Our second Youth Hostel in Basel is situated just three minutes on foot from the station. The inner courtyard - an informal garden - offers a comfortable spot in which to relax in the heart of the city. In just a few minutes you can be on Bahnhofplatz with a huge choice of trams moving in all directions.

Basel St.Alban

The youth hostel is to be found in the venerable St Alban quarter, the original home of the Basler "Daig", as the old established families of Basel are called. Behind the building flows the St Alban Canal, which earlier linked the various factories in the quarter to the Rhine. Where you today enjoy the tasty menus, silk ribbons were previously weaved; the large wood engravings on the walls of the vaulted cellar illustrate those times. Wall sections and ceiling supports in other rooms are witness to the good old days.

The quiet, green, sleepy oasis of Basel is not far from the Rhine. It has marvelous food in the vaulted dining hall and, only a 10 minutes walk away from the fizz of Basel's city life.

There are washrooms and showers on every floor.

It's not an exciting hostel, but it has all the basics. There are general areas on the ground floor and basement with a TV, ping-pong table, and pinball machines. Upstairs are the dorms and conveniences. The hallways are lined with big lockers. The rooms are average, and the bathroom facilities are below average.

The reception is closed in the afternoon and after midnight.
