Mount Rigi, Rigi Kulm
Mount Rigi, rising 1800 meters above sea level, has been called the "Queen of Mountains". The cogwheel train at the summit holds the record for being the steepest in the world. The train ferries thousands of tourists to the summit of the Rigi every year, and is one of the architectural marvels of the country famous for its many mechanical inventions like clockwork toys and watches. From the summit, you can see as many as 70 peaks and numerous lakes dotting the surrounding Alpine Peaks. Later, you will be taken to Lucerne, the nearest town, where you can enjoy a boating ride on the picturesque Lake Lucerne.
April to November
From Lucerne, you will be taken to Stans, 20 minutes away by train. From Stans, you will be taken to Stanserhorn, almost 1900 meters above sea level. A century old funicular takes you part of the way. The rest of the distance to the summit is covered on a newly built cable car. From the top of the Stanserhorn, you can see more than 10 Alpine lakes and a botanical garden with many varieties of rare flowers and other Alpine vegetation. You can also dine at the revolving restaurant at the summit, which affords you a 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
