And now we come to the last leg of your tour. Castle Chillon, in Chillon, is a fine example of early Gothic architecture. It lies on the shores of the beautiful Lake Geneva. The beauty of the castle's architecture makes one overlook the impregnable structure of this fortress. The basement prisons once held political prisoners like Bonivard, whose story was narrated by Lord Byron in "The Prisoner of Chillon". The castle had been renovated and restored to its original glory in the past few decades. You can see period furniture and objects like mugs and jars that may have been used by Peter II of Savoy. Apart from that, exhibitions of such old artifacts are routinely held at the castle.
