The Giubiasco cellar has played a vital role in the rationalization of winemaking techniques, founded in the year 1929. The quantitative improvement of the wines of the Tessin region, as the Merlot has made it possible to increase the yield of the vines and to heighten consciousness and approval of wines well beyond the borders of the canton. The Giubiasco cellar has played a predominant role for the socio-economic development of the state. To meet the needs of consumer desire and satisfaction level, by respecting the traditional values, the Cellar has from the outset instigated, and then productively improved as a vast diversification of production.
Red, white and rose wines are manufactured by using the Merlot grapes, which represent almost all of the harvest supplied to the Cellar. Bellinzona and Locarno are the two famous districts that provide most of the grapes processed by this cellar. A small quantity of which brings from the canton and from Mesolcina, these zones produces the best grapes from the old Merlot vine stock and thus lays its reputation. By vinifying reap of over 500 winegrowers it successfully sells almost 10 % of the Swiss canton’s winegrowing and winemaking production. In 2002, the Giubiasco cellar was refurbished and loaded with red vinification, a system that possesses a very sophisticated cutting edge technology.
