Geneva - White Wines
The moment we think about the delicate, subtle and slightly sparkling wines the electrifying region of Geneva majestically comes to our mind. These wines are produced from the Chasselas grape. Chasselas is now accountable in producing around 40% of the total wine-production of Geneva as well as in Switzerland. The red and white varieties made from different grapes, comprising the Chardonnay, the Aligote, the Pinot Gris, and the Pinot Blanc that splendidly suits the Geneva's soils. The Riesling-Sylvaner and the Gewurztraminer are the other two grape varieties cultivated here.
Geneva - Red Wines
Geneva's fabulous red wines are essentially made from the Gamay. Geneva is characterized by producing Gamay in its best results. Fruity, full-bodied and aromatic wines are its marvelous outcome. The Pinot Noir is gaining popularity and the Gamaret a new Swiss crossbreed assortment, turning out to be very hopeful and thus known for giving intense and spicy wines. The Merlot is another Swiss wine variety, cultivated in Geneva, but in a very small quantity.
