Thun castle was built by Duke Berchtold V von Zähringen in 1195. He built many fortified cities including Bern, the capital of Switzerland. Thun castle houses a museum which offers a comprehensive insight into the Swiss culture and region spanning more than 2000 years. A guide book in English can be purchased at the entrance which provides interesting information about the castle. The museum is quite interesting and views from the castle tower are quite stunning.
