No other Swiss person is so widely known as Wilhelm Tell. He was the Swiss legendary hero, who symbolized the struggle for political and individual freedom. The Tell museum in Bürglen is exclusively dedicated to the Swiss Patriot. The museum displays extensive collection of documents, accounts and objects of historic and artistic kind spanning six centuries relating to the Swiss hero Wilhelm Tell. Uri and Wilhelm Tell are closely related to each other. After every four years the play Wilhelm Tell by Schiller is performed on the stage of Tell play house in Altdorf. The museum remains opened from May to June from 10 am to 11.30 pm and from September to October from 10 am to 11.30 pm.
