How to reach
By train or car : You can get a train or car from Biel or La Chaux-de-Fonds to St. Imier or Les Breuleux. From any destination take a funicular railway from St. Imier to Mount Soleil. From Mount soleil visitors can take an educational trail to the wind power station Mount Crosin which is on a walking distance and return to St. Imier by bus.
The round trip can also be done in the other direction. A 5 km walking path from Les Breuleux train station takes you to Mount Crosin from here you can follow educational trail to Mount Soleil and then take 6 km hiking trail back to Les Breuleux.
The Mount Soleil power station is one of the biggest photovoltaic solar power stations. 4,500 square m of silicon solar cells, stretched on 20,000 square m of land transform sunlight directly into electric current. The plant produces 600,000 k watts of electricity annually and provides electricity to 200 households. The wind turbines stand on Mount Crosin. Embedded in the typical landscape of the Bernese Jura the trail provides you complete information explaining everything you know about power supplies, wind energy, photovoltaic energy .Jura a landscape , is also famous for wildlife , agriculture and tourism. Visitors can even take horse drawn coach to both these power stations. The power station is on expansion and has two new turbines making a total of eight. By advance booking the visitors can enjoy their guided tour to both the power stations. The path is well maintained even in winter and is frequently parallel to the cross-country skiing trails.
