The Rietberg Museum established in1952, represents the cosmopolitan spirit of the city of Zurich. The museum is a home to internationally acclaimed extraordinary woks of art from Asia, America, Oceania and Africa. Special exhibitions focusing on these cultures are the main reason behind its world wide acclaim. In February 2007, the annex "Baldachine von Smaragd" was inaugurated. A glass pavilion covering 2,000 sq. m with two subterranean exhibition halls along with airy and tall rooms makes its more spacious. The museum remains opened from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm and on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm.
