The village of Appenzell is the home of the famous Appenzell cheese.The modern dairies and cheese making process is worth a view.From the speectator's gallery you can watch modern cheese making process. The building also houses a restaurant where you can taste and sample the fresh cheese and its many specialities.
The folklore museum, where one can watch demonstration of loom and embroidery making , is housed next to the dairy.

By car: the motorway route is from Gossau, to Herisau, Hundwil, Stein, or exit St. Gallen and then continue your journey to Appenzell, Teufen, Stein.
