Charming Oberhofen Castle was built on the shores of Lake Thun in the 12th Century. It was originally belonged to the Habsburg family and has been constantly changed and updated throughout the ages. It is now a branch of Bern’s Historical museum and houses an important exhibition on Bernese furniture and home décor of various significant periods from 16th C to 19th C. The striking and special point of interest about this castle includes thick walls adorned with medieval paintings, a billiard room, a Turkish smoking room , the elegant Knight’s Hall, the Neo-Gothic dinning room and the Castle Chapel invite visitors to explore that era. Surrounded by the English Style Park and gardens the castle offers the most stunning panoramic view of Alpine region.
