Bern, the Capital of Confedratio helvetica

Bern , designated as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO ,is Switzerland's political capital. The city famous for its  bear pitts, flowery gardens , museums and a quaint medival Old town is a treat par excellence.

The old town is a picturesque peninsula framed by the River Aare. Varouus government buildings inclding the seats of Federal , Cantonal and Municipal government including the Parliament are located in the Old town. Museums, theatres, historical attractions, restaurants, inns, shops and the weekly markets are all located within comfortable walkable distances. The longest weather-protected shopping promenade in Europe – 6 Kilometers long arcades of shops and boutiques akes shopping in Berne a memorable experience. In the mid-16th century, Bern's Renaissance fountains were constructed. The Zeitglocke Tower with the famous bells originates from the 12th century.
