Vorderrhein is one of the most popular white water destinations of the entire Alps. Lies between Ilanz and Reichenau Vorderrhein offers a great balance of fun filled white water rapids as well as the exceptional landscape with vertical cliffs, deep narrow valleys and steep gravel banks. Vorderrhein is popular for rafting trips suitable for everybody is commonly known as the Swiss Grand Canyon. When the large Rhine glacier retreated at the end of the last ice age, the Northern hillside has lost its hold, then 15 billions cubic meters of rock slid down and blocked the way of the river. Over the years the water found its way through the soft limestone and thus created the famous gorge of the Vorderrhein. Besides rafting visitors can enjoy hydro speed board, canoe or kayak. Half- and full-day trips are on offer and visitors can enjoy overnight and special family trips. Best season to visit this place is from May to October and the minimum age is 10 years.
