The Greyerzer is a town in the district of Gruyères in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The Medieval town with its rolling green landscapes and its location in the upper valley of Saane River makes it one of the scenic tourist destinations. It is a home to the world famous Gruyères cheese. The major attraction of the town is Lake Gruyères which is one of the finest artificial lakes in Switzerland and is a home to the black and white Fribourg cows. The other scenic spots of Gruyères are nestling between the slopes of Moléson and the Dent du Chamois which has a castle surrounded by a fortified wall. In side this 13th century castle is a museum which is covering the eight centuries of the architecture, history and culture of the region. The other place to visit is the smaller castle of St. Germain which has a Museum of HR Giger who designed the horrific fantasy figures for Hollywood film alien. The Museum houses the important pictures and sculptures from 1960 to the present day. Another must visit place is the Moor Lake situated in a hollow on the highland plateau of Freiberg in the canton of Jura. It has a path for hikers that have been designed over here where the visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature in its full swing. Those who love winters for them the major center of attraction is the Moléson skiing area which is the largest skiing area in the Fribourg. Not far from Gruyères there is another place of interest is La Berra which is also a major tourist destination. In summers the idyllic landscape of Gruyère region has several themed trails telling the legends about the region are also worth visiting.
