The natural reserve of Clos de Douds lies between the mountains and the river in the heart of the Jura Region. The Doubs River is a tributary of Saone River and flows past the small medieval dwelling of St. Ursanne. It is a historical landmark among the other important attractions in the Clos –du-Doubs. Between May to October guided tours of the town takes place every weekend. The tour to Clos –du-Doubs takes you through a completely different world of peace and tranquility. The major attraction of Clos-du-Doubs is the little town of St- Ursanne. According to a legend it was founded by the Irish Monk Ursinicus who lived in this lonely spot as a hermit. Even today the place possesses a magnetic power of attraction. Now a day several hundred people live here at St-Ursanne on the banks of River Doubs. The picturesque town is still a place of tranquility and relaxation. The other major attractions of the town include the medieval edifices, burgher houses dated back to the 14th to 16th century and an impressive collegiate church that was built between the 12th and 14th century. To reach the hermitage of St. Ursicinus which is located in the grotto the visitors can reach it by means of a steep staircase with 180 steps. The other major attraction is Doubs Bridge, which has four arches and was built in 1728 that offers a good view of the medieval town and its environs.
