La Chaux-de-Fonds is the capital city of the district of La Chaux-de-Fonds in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. It is located in the Jura Mountains at an altitude of 1000 m was the world capital of watch making industry for over a hundred years. After Geneva and Lausanne, it is the third largest French speaking part of the country. The watch making cities of La Chaux – de- Fonds and Le-Locle have jointly declared the world heritage sites by UNESCO for their exceptional universal value. The major attraction among the tourists is The International watch museum “ Musée International de l'Horlogerie" which is entirely dedicated to the history of time measurement. It has some rare collection of about 2,700 watches and 700 wall clocks. The other major attraction among the visitors is the grottoes of Réclère in Canton Jura. These are discovered by the end of 19th century and were soon opened for the public. It is 1.5 km long guided circular tour that takes the visitors past the stalactites and stalagmites to the huge hall to the stalagmites that are over 15 m high that seems to depict the mysterious face in profile. The other attraction is the Préhisto-Park situated right next to the grottoes where the visitors can hike along the 2 Km long forest trail that has 40 life size replicas of dinosaurs and other animals and learn about their evolution. Among the other attractions includes the Les Brenets and Saut du Doubs waterfalls. It is a 27 m high waterfall that can also be reached by means of a one hour hike from Les Brenets.
