By Car: Take the motorway towards Montreux , exit the motorway at Vevey.Parking for cars is available at Place du Marche or at the Parking Panorama
By Train: take the train to Vevey station .The walk to the museum is about 10 minutes approximate.
The Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday all year around.
The Alimentarium food museum is situated on the shore of Lake Geneva. It offers an interesting and amusing display of different aspects of our nutrition. It was opened in 1985 and then in 2000 it was completely revamped. It took 2 years of alterations and that resulted in a building structure and permanent exhibitions.
Permanent Exhibitions
Nestle – an exhibition about the man Henri Nestlé, the inventor, the leader in the food industry and a peek into the company and its products
It’s the only room in the whole building explaining the history of the building and the Nestle Company. The display of the advertisements and erstwhile packaging dates back to the 1867. the display is a reminiscence of its key product line : Dairy Products, Drinks, Chocolates and cookery products.
Cooking
This section offers an insight into various cooking methods which are used to make food edible, tastier .The various methods of preserving food is also highlighted There is a fully productive kitchen and it gives the visitors an opportunity to observe and ask the professional chefs.
The Museum Garden displays a range of food plants as per the season. There is also a vegetable patch and a section of aromatic plants. The garden also has picnic areas.
