How to reach
By car : Take the car and move in the direction of Montreux. Exit at Vevey. Visitors can park the car at Parking Panorama or on the Place du Marche.
By train : Take a train to Vevey and walk from the train station towards Alimentarium which takes approximately 10 minutes.
Opened in the year 1985, The Alimentarium, or Food Museum depicts the past and present food systems in a comprehensive and easily understandable way to its visitors. Covering the surface area of 900 sq. m, the museum was founded by Nestlé, whose headquarters are in Vevey. The main aim of this museum is to illustrate different stages of path traveled by food from its production, processing to consumption. The permanent exhibitions consist of mainly 3 sections which mainly comprise scientific, ethnological and historical aspects of food and nutrition along with the history of Nestlé. The permanent exhibitions on the theme of “Cooking Buying Eating and Digesting” involve visitors in its interactive, enthusiastic and dynamic approach to many aspects of food. The visual display, temporary interactive exhibitions, cooking workshops, regular visits by food professionals are among the major draw among the visitors. Don’t forget to visit the garden featuring aromatic and edible plants of season. The museum remained open through out the year from Tuesday to Sunday.
