Lenzerheide is a charming old town that is located on a 1500m high valley in the pass between Chur and Tiefencastle in the eastern part of Switzerland. It is also linked with Valbella by a lake as well as by lifts thus combining to form a picturesque ski area. But it must be noted that skiing here may not be very exciting as the slopes mainly favor beginners and intermediates.
Most of the skiing at the Lenzerheide ski resort takes place on both sides of the beautiful wooded valley that offers some runs in the trees and some above them. However, it should also be noted that the uniform shape of the valley makes the runs a little monotonous and boring. But there is some scope for the advanced skiers who can try the steep and gladed, though sometimes mogulled slopes beneath the Rothorn cable car at the Valbella end of the valley.
The Lenzerheide ski resort doubles up as a winter and a summer resort at the same time. Hence, you will find a large number of people in the area all year round. Besides, Lenzerheide is more of a family resort that draws many families for their annual vacation. Lenzerheide is also a wonderful place for a close communion with nature with its stunning lake, woodland and mountain views. It is also a traditional Swiss resort complete with an Alpine touch. Après ski at Lenzerheide is not varied but not bad at all. So a visit to this picturesque ski resort is certainly worth a try during your ski vacation in Switzerland.
